Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2016 Packaging Design

-  Balik Kampung  -
Waiting for Syawal month is the most exciting for every Muslims. Syawal is the 10th month of Hijrah (Islamic) calendar. Do you still remember as a child, the excitement of witnessing the young crescent moon? It marks the beginning of the festival of Eid, also called Eidul Fitri, commonly knowns as Hari Raya Puasa or Hari Raya Aidilfitri. This festival celebrates the success on discipline after Ramadhan(holy month of fasting) and inculcates the spirit of sharing, caring and forgiving.

Before Hari Raya, family members will all be busy cleaning the house compounds, some houses will even be painted new. Pelita (oil lamps) will be lit up to reach its height on the 27th night of Ramadhan, called the Tujuh Likur night. ‘Likur’ means a figure between 20 and 30, hence ‘tujuh likur’ means twenty seven. The purpose of lighting oil lamps was originally to attract spirit of passed relatives and angels, nowadays the oil lamps are lit as a decoration.

Most of the Muslims will get their baju rayas tailored with their choice of fabric; however there is also a wide selection of baju rayas conveniently available in stores while Hari Raya songs can be heard playing everywhere.

Towards the end of Ramadhan, the men would light up the charcoal for the outdoor stoves, the ladies would begin boiling the ketupat, preparing lemang, and other ingredients for the scrumptious feast. Everyone would sit around and chat with each other. It takes a kampung, or a very large and happy family, to prepare the ingredients and take part in the lengthy but satisfying cooking process. This should be most of your childhood reminiscences. I believe you also miss the aromas and fragrances from baking biscuits and cakes.
During this month-long celebration, Muslims will invite their relatives and friends over to their homes to join in the celebration and merriment. This ‘Open House’ invitation – which is open to all visitors, the objective is to create harmony and strengthen bonds amongst relatives and friends. Traditional Malay delicacies like lemang, rendang, ketupat, serunding and sayur lodeh can be seen nicely lined up on the dining table. This is the time of the year that you can sample the most delicious dishes from the Malay cuisines.

Treasure loved ones. Enjoy precious moments. Balik Kampung.
Have a safe journey on the way balik kampung.
Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Maaf Zahir and Batin
